Dear Friends,
Sistergirlquilts is a small business started in honor of my grandmother, Bessie
Scott Jeans, who taught me to quilt when I was 10 years old. She quilted out of
necessity. She didn't have beautiful fabric to choose from, only old clothing's and
left over scraps. For batting, she used old blankets and heavy feed sacks, and
25lbs flour sacks for backing. Her quilts were all handmade and beautiful. It was
she who nicknamed me Sister Girl. A name I will always cherish.
When my grandmother died in 1987, I took two of her favorite Sunday dresses
and incorporated a small piece of them in every quilt I've made since then. As a
tribute to her, I have designed some beautiful quilts and wall hangings. I have tried
to keep them simple, some using only scraps material. If you decide to purchase
one of my patterns, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
I feel grandmother is very proud.
Happy quilting,
Ruby J. Jackson
